Compost is Awesome!
Healthy food begins with healthy soil. The act of composting is awesome! Through composting, you can transform waste into black gold! It’s easy, even you can start one in your own backyard with no more than some food scraps, old leaves and grass clippings. Get busy, make some soil! Below is a fun recipe for a successful backyard compost pile just about anyone can build. It’s even more fun if you get the kids involved.
Farm Work Trade
Here on the farm, we have loads to do! From tilling, planting, and tending the gardens to building projects of all varieties and animal tending and care, there is never a dull moment. We love to have our community out to help, whether it be a one off project or for ongoing visits. Children benefit greatly from work experiences on the farm, and can begin building healthy work ethics while learning what farming is all about!
Events and Retreats
Kannah Creek Farm has a beautiful infrastructure for hosting events and retreats on a small scale with a sustainable and spiritual focus right outside of Grand Junction, in the beautiful farmland of western Colorado. We are committed to providing our community with educational and growth opportunities.
Sweat Lodge
Our farm has been gifted the ceremony of the sweat lodge, using the Mexica tradition. We hold sweats on occasion and they will be posted on the Events Calendar. If you are interested in attending a sweat lodge on the farm, please contact us and let us know!
Community Gardening
The Kannah Creek Community Garden accepts a very small number of members each year to assist in the planting and tending of our food crops, and to receive a regular share of the goods!
Alpacas on the Farm
In 2016, after a journey to the mountains of Peru, Kannah Creek Farm fell in love with alpacas, and so our herd was born. Along with their guard llamas, these majestic and gentle creatures fit right in to our beautifully strange wonderland.
